Define the terms soft news and hard news and explain their dichotomy. Do you think soft news presents a problem for the mass public and public officials? Why?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers should define hard news sources as traditional sources of in-depth and focused news coverage, such as from The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, ABC, NBC, PBS, or the like. Soft news should be defined as more personal and less-focused news coverage, such as Comedy Central, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Daily Show, and others. Answers should discuss how soft news presents a good-versus-evil dichotomy, common to hard news and U.S. foreign policy rhetoric. Answers should also discuss how soft news generates a younger audience.
