DNA is composed of a pair of nucleotide chains, and RNA is made up of a single chain. The nitrogenous bases adenine, guanine, and cytosine are common to both DNA and RNA nucleotides. The nitrogenous base thymine is found only in DNA, and uracil is found only in RNA.
