Ans: Developmental disabilities include such things as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, severe learning disabilities, mental retardation, and autism (Petersilia, 2001). A developmental disability manifests before the age of 22, is long-lasting, and causes severe impairment in at least three of the five areas of activity--self-care, language, learning, mobility, and capacity for independent living.
