Kagan says that the seven student positions are not to be considered negative, that they simply reflect the student’s needs at the time he or she acts out, and that everyone at some time or another experiences each of the positions. How does this help teachers show students they are on the same side and help students work toward more responsible behavior?

What will be an ideal response?

Positions are states of mind that vary according to situation. They indicate needs that the student strongly feels. Everyone experiences all seven positions. Sensitivity to student positions can assist teachers in helping students identify responsible short- and long-term solutions to various problems. It’s how individuals react or behave when in the position that is responsible or not, and it is the process of making collaborative solutions and responsible choices that help teachers show they are the same side with the students.
