Is it ethical to commercialize and sell eggs and sperm for reproduction?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Sperm donation is being used for the past 50 years, and the sperm donors can be known or anonymous. The sperm collected are frozen in a cryotank for future use. Sperm donation is one of the treatment options for male infertility.

The opinion of sperm donation is very personal. Some may like to donate sperms to help the parents suffering from infertility or use sperm banks for receiving sperms. Some may not want to share or receive genetic inheritance with strangers and also due to the possible legal issues (knowing about the biological parents and similar issues) that may occur in the future.

However, the sperm and ovum donation became a large business in the recent past. Celebrities, scientists, and other people with specific characteristics are being paid huge rewards for their reproductive cells. Although it looks unethical, it cannot be considered so unless it hurts anybody’s feelings because it is completely related to the individual’s choice of doing so.
