Proprioception is one of the three main somatosenses. It gives us information about the position and movement of our limbs and body. These include muscle tension and length, the angle of the limbs at the joints, maintaining posture, movement of our limbs, and grasping of objects. Individuals with loss of this sense show symptoms such as floppiness with an inability to sit or stand upright.
