Explain how the ability to interconvert nutrients is beneficial
What will be an ideal response?
Interconversion allows the body to produce different types of needed molecules (e.g., carbohydrates for fuel) even if the diet is limited in terms of the variety of nutrients consumed. Also it allows for efficient storage of energy (high energy per mass) in the form of triglycerides regardless of the nutrition source; this is useful for times when food might be scarce.
