Explain the difference between mechanical switches and proximity switches and provide an example of each type.

What will be an ideal response?

Mechanical switches are switches that need one to apply force, such as with a hand, head, elbow or foot. An example of a mechanical switch is a push switch, pillow switch, and grasp switch. A proximity switch is one in which a part of the body does not need to touch or contact the switch but a part of one’s body comes close to the switch. An example of a proximity switch is the Candy Corn switch.
