Describe the three stages of spray gun atomization.

What will be an ideal response?

In a spray gun the paint is distributed in three stages.
In stage one, the finish is released around the fluid needle and passes through the fluid nozzle center. The paint does not start to atomize until it leaves the gun.
In stage two of the paint application process, openings around the outer ring of the fluid nozzle allow air to bombard the liquid, thus breaking down the finish into droplets. As it

passes further outward, the round stream of partially atomized droplets are hit with streams of air from the air cap.
Stage three involves the streams of air coming from the air cap center orifice, which help to further break the finish into smaller atomized droplets. At the same time, larger streams of air from the air cap horns bombard the round spray pattern, changing it into the needed elliptical spray pattern.
