What is the difference between mainstreaming and inclusion?
What will be an ideal response?
Mainstreaming involves placing children with ID in classrooms with typically developing peers, to the maximum extent possible. Inclusion involves the education of children with ID alongside typically developing peers for all subjects, usually with the support of a classroom aide. Inclusion, therefore, is typically more all-encompassing than mainstreaming, and involves additional supports (an aide) to allow it to work.
