• On the holiday of Chuseok, Koreans visit shrines for the spirits of their more distant ancestors and worship them. They bring offerings of food and drink to the graves of their more immediate ancestors.

• Chinese who observe the traditional Qing Ming Festival tend the graves of their departed in the spring. The seventh month of the Chinese calendar is Ghost Month, when many Chinese believe that the spirits of the dead visit Earth from the underworld.

• During the holiday of Araw ng mga Patay (Day of the Dead), bereaved families in the Philippines may camp out near grave sites for a night or two, bringing flowers, repairing tombs, and lighting candles. Families eat, drink, sing and dance, and play cards.
