Describe the factors that may contribute to researcher bias.

What will be an ideal response?

Researcher bias can be caused by several factors, including: The evaluator may have an interest in the intervention’s success or the success of the agency, particularly if the evaluator is an agency employee. This may cause the evaluator to see what he or she wants to see or expects to see. The evaluator may manipulate a study so that the actual results agree with the anticipated results. An evaluator may favor an intervention so strongly that the research study is structured to support it by manipulating the design and shaping responses due to suggestive wording of interview or survey questions. The evaluation results may be interpreted and reported most favorably, and contrary information may be excluded, minimized, or reframed. Conversely, the evaluator may be predisposed to see the intervention be less effective or fail.
