Think about what you plan to do when you finish high school or college, and discuss the Web 2.0 tools you might use to help you achieve your higher education or career goals.
What will be an ideal response?
I would use many different Web 2.0 tools to improve my chances of getting into college/getting a job in my field. First, I would make sure that my e-persona looks the way I want it to. I would either delete any inappropriate or irrelevant information from my social networking sites or ensure that my privacy settings would be restrictive enough to keep an admissions officer or potential employer from seeing too many details. I would also run a free background check or do my own searches to see what sort of information I can find on the Web about me or about people who share my name, so that I am ready to address any questions from an interviewer. If there is something out there that I don't want posted and that I can control, I will contact the appropriate Webmaster to get it deleted. I would also consider joining a professional organization of people who work in the field I am interested in. If I was looking for a job, I would join a professional networking site like LinkedIn. I might also create a blog where I write about a topic that really inspires me - either something that makes me stand out as a good candidate for college, or something related to my chosen field. Finally, I would create a personal home page and set up links to my blog and to some of the work I've done.
