List and describe the qualities Rogers believed were important in therapists

What will be an ideal response?

Rogers believed that personal characteristics of the therapist (empathy, positive regard, genuineness) would bring about the client's change. Empathy is the ability to understand what the client is saying and feeling. Positive regard is the ability to communicate caring, respect, and regard for the client. Genuineness is the ability to be real and nondefensive in interactions with the client. Rogers and his followers assumed that a therapist with these three characteristics would be able to help a client change and grow.
