Explain the roles, motives, and beliefs of a power rapist
What will be an ideal response?
Power rapes involve the offender seeking power and control over his victim by use of force or threats. The sexual assault is evidence of conquest and domination. The perpetrator will plan and fantasize about the rape, believing that the victim will respond to his advances after initially resisting. Power rapes may be further classified as power-assertive rapes or power-reassurance rapes. The power-assertive rapist views the assault as an expression of his virility, mastery, and dominance. The power-reassurance rapist, on the other hand, commits rape to resolve doubts about his masculinity and sexual adequacy.
