The percentage of LGB characters featured in film is proportionate to that of the general population. Despite this, do you think the media should show more LGB characters in film? Why or why not?
What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary but students may choose to discuss that featuring more LGB individuals in film may allow greater visibility in mainstream society. Rather than looking at television and film overall and calculating proportions based on cumulative representation--perhaps movies and television shows should feature more LGB people on an individual basis to reject heteronormativity.
