What is the difference between a glacier's zone of accumulation and zone of ablation?


In the zone of accumulation, annual accumulation (mass input) exceeds annual ablation (mass output). Annual ablation exceeds annual accumulation in the warmer downslope portion of an alpine glacier, which is the zone of ablation.
