A multiple listing service is an organization of brokers who agree to publicize their listings to all other broker members through the use of the service. Thus, each broker who is a member of the service has access to the listings of all other brokers who are members. The information is shared through the use of multiple listing directories and also may be accessed by computer. The sharing of this information helps brokers to build up an “inventory” of listings and increases the chances of finding a buyer for the property through the assistance of other brokers who will then share in the commission.
