Explain four ways a teacher can discern if a family is having trouble coping with stress.

What will be an ideal response?

The parents’ behavior seems disorganized. For example, they might frequently forget vital things, such as a child’s jacket. Parents seem continually frustrated with their child. They might be unduly impatient with a slow child, threaten punishment, express a lack of confidence in their parenting ability, or appear confused about how to handle the child. Also, parents might be defensive about accepting help. In fact, some parents might become verbally aggressive or walk away from a teacher who tries to discuss the child. In addition, parents might seem more concerned about themselves than about their child. Parents could be more focused on their own problems and bring them up any time the teacher tries to talk about the child.
