Give three definitions of ”design”?

What will be an ideal response?

The use of scientific principles, technical information and imagination in the definition of a mechanical structure, machine or system to perform prespecified functions with the maximum economy and efficiency.

The process of devising a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. It is a decision-making process (often iterative), in which the basic sciences, mathematics, and engineering sciences are applied to optimally convert resources to meet a stated objective.

Systematic statements of principles and relationships, which explains the design process and provides a useful procedural way for design. In the same way the methodology refers to the collection of procedures, tools and techniques, which the designer may use in applying the design theory to the process of design
