Discuss the ways in which layer comps can be used to help you generate a final version of a composition.

What will be an ideal response?

If you work on a creative team that collaborates, layer comps can be a great tool to help you generate a final version of a composition. For example, team members can use the Comment field in a layer comp to critique a particular layout and make suggestions for improving it. They can also add text layers to a composition that include critiques or suggestions, or draw arrows and other vector objects to point out areas of the composition they would like to see changed. You can view their feedback by saving a layer comp with the comment layers visible and then hide the comments in a different layer comp. Alternatively, each team member can save a layer comp with his or her name in order to show the group his or her preferred layout, and the team can review the different options by selecting and then discussing each individual named layer comp.

Reviewing a single file using various layer comps keeps your work in a single location and avoids any problems you might have with version control. Once the team has made its final decisions, you can delete any unnecessary layers and finalize the file. By using layer comps to collaborate with team members, you can create a final file that is the best it can be.
