Mission is what the direction goals and objectives are for the organization and strategy is the how. The order, mission, then strategy, is important. If the mission was not articulated, the strategy could not be implemented. Mission and strategic decisions affect performance. Mission and strategy are also directly related to culture with leadership being the most important catalyst between those two elements. Mission statements include values and philosophies and represent and reflect the organization’s culture.
