Name and briefly describe how to teach at least five important cooperative learning skills to promote the exchange of thoughts and feelings.

The eight skills listed and ways to teach them are as followings:
1. Teach how to communicate one's own ideas and feelings: Encourage the use of I and my. Also teachers should promote the sharing of personal experiences.
2. Make messages complete and specific: Emphasize that with each message there should be a frame of reference, perspective, or experience.
3. Make verbal and nonverbal messages congruent. Establish a sincere tone where hidden meanings and snide remarks are not accepted.

4. Convey an atmosphere of respect and support: Indicate that all students can contribute and that responses should be respectful.
5. Demonstrate how to assess whether the message was properly received: Instruct learners to ask for interpretive feedback from listeners
6. Teach how to paraphrase another's point of view: Encourage listeners, instead of just agreeing to paraphrase a message to clarify understanding.
7. Demonstrate how to negotiate meanings and understandings: When a speaker finds that the listener's paraphrased response is off the mark, instruct them to refine the message.
8. Teach participating and leadership: Communicate the following:
a. Mutual benefit—what benefits the group, benefits the individual.
b. Common fate—each individual will succeed only as much as the group succeeds.
c. Shared identity—everyone is a member both physically and emotionally.
d. Joint celebration—satisfaction is received from the progress of the group as a whole
e. Mutual responsibility—all should be concerned by any one member's underperformance.
