Complete the Concept Map to trace the pathway of blood through the pulmonary and systemic circuits, and state the importance and functions of these circuits.
Ans: Pathway of blood through the pulmonary and systemic circuits :
Lets start pathway from the right side of the heart and ends with the right side of the heart which forms the pathway
Right side of the heart - pulmonary trunk and pulmonary arteries - pulmonary capillaries - pulmonary veins - left side of the heart - aorta and thoracic aorta - Systemic arteries and capillaries of the body - Systemic veins - superior and inferior venae cavae - Right side of the heart
Importance and functions of the circuits:
1.Pulmonary circulation moves blood between the heart and the lungs
It transports deoxygenated blood to the lungs to absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide, then oxygenated blood flows back to heart
2.Systemic circulation moves blood between the heart and the rest of the body
it sends oxygenated blood to the cells and returns deoxygenated blood to the heart
