How can ratio tables be used to solve comparison problems?

To determine the difference and solve for the unknown in a comparison problem, students are taught to generate an equation using a number family. Once the number family is completed, students can put the numerators into a ratio table. Given any of the three values, the students can construct ratio equations to determine the other two values.
