What is the iSCSI storage solution in Windows Server 2008 R2?  Describe its components.

What will be an ideal response?

iSCSI is an economical solution for storage in a private cloud environment. Microsoft provides the iSCSI server solution in Windows Storage Server 2008 R2. When the iSCSI software is installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server, it becomes accessible as a storage device using the iSCSI protocol. The protocol allows clients, called initiators, to send iSCSI commands to the target iSCSI storage device. Targets execute the command and return the data to the clients. The iSCSI protocol encapsulates SCSI commands in TCP/IP packets. An encapsulated packet is called a Protocol Data Unit (PDU); it contains a header, the command, and a data segment.
