How can a social worker use the dual perspective to inform his/her practice?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Using the dual perspective allows the social worker to begin where the client is, to heighten awareness of her own values and biases in working with clients, and to deepen her empathy and understanding as to the total life situation (e.g., social interactions and behaviors) of the client. Finally, the dual perspective helps social workers from a dominant, privileged position to discover and more closely examine structural barriers and injustices within the wider, sustaining system that may impact on the diverse group’s opportunities as well as experiences with oppression.
