Where does assistive technology get raised in the IEP and who are the players relative to assistive technology decision making?

What will be an ideal response?

Assistive technology can be listed in multiple areas within the IEP, including as a goal, a related service, a supplementary aid and service, or as an accommodation. Often assistive technology decision-making is made by the IEP team, but it is not always. A key member of the IEP team when making decisions about assistive technology can be an assistive technology specialist, but individuals in this role do not always exist in a school or school district. Other individuals who may serve in the place of the IEP member knowledgeable about assistive technology include occupational therapists, special education teachers, speech and language therapists, or instructional technologists. Parents and students should also have a role within assistive technology decision making.
