Rebecca, a married woman, has been catapulted into the 21st century from 1785 Colonial America. She has developed a friendship with Jenny, who is divorced and the CEO of a small corporation. Jenny cohabits with a partner, Greg, and they have shared a home for three years. Rebecca is fascinated by the differences in Jenny's life, especially surrounding Jenny's divorce, her position at work, and her ownership of the house she lives in with Greg. What are some of those changes she is most apt to note? Provide five questions that would help her to understand this new world.

What will be an ideal response?

The questions would revolve around some of the most obvious differences:
Divorce is no longer a stigma. Society has evolved to accept the dissolution of the marriage as better than staying in an unhappy union. Remarriage is optional.
In the past there were certain presumptions that a man was responsible for the financial maintenance of his wife and children. Women now work outside the home, earning an income, and often are better providers than their male spouses.
Parties used to have to satisfy the courts that the requirements of the grounds for divorce (i.e., adultery, abandonment, mental and physical cruelty, etc.) had been met. Now parties only have to swear under oath that the marriage is irretrievably broken with no chance of conciliation. No party is to blame.
Cohabitation outside of marriage is no longer an illegal act, and is far more commonplace. Women can own their own property, outside of marriage.
