If a lawyer violates the rules of professional conduct, the lawyer is subject to punishment. What are the different punishment options?

What will be an ideal response?

Different punishment options for a lawyer who violates the rules of professional conduct include: disbarment, where a lawyer may no longer practice law; suspension, where a lawyer may not practice law for a specific amount of time; a public reprimand, where an order is published publicly stating that the lawyer did something wrong; a private reprimand, where an order is published but excludes the lawyers name as a way to show other lawyers what the error was; or restitution, which orders the lawyer to compensate any person harmed by their actions. Depending on the type of violation the lawyer commits, the appropriate punishment is then applied. If a lawyer was negligent with client property but no injuries came to the client than a private reprimand is appropriate. If the lawyer was negligent with the clients property and the client was harmed than a reprimand would be appropriate. When the clients property was handled improperly and was injured than a suspension would be appropriate for a lawyer. If a lawyer knowingly steals client property than disbarment is the appropriate punishment.
