What do the authors conclude generally about global child maltreatment prevalence, barriers, and policy?
What will be an ideal response?
Low-income countries face the largest challenges, compromising children’s protection. While middle- and high-income countries do not face the same level of challenges as low-income countrie;they are still lacking in child maltreatment specific resources. There is good agreement among high- and middle-income countries regarding what constitutes child maltreatment and there is less agreement in low-income countries. While many countries have national policies, they are not widely enforced and government support is lacking. European countries cited corporal punishment as a major barrier, low-income countries cited lack of child welfare and health services, and globally a decline in family life and support systems was cited as a significant barrier.
