What are the key steps in the Problem-Based Learning model?

The first step in teaching with the Problem-Based Learning model is for students to learn about and examine a problem that either the teacher presents or that the students identify. The second step is for students to use the information examined in the first step to form an action plan to solve the problem – and the degree of teacher involvement in this step should depend on student ability. The third step is for students to test out the plan developed and implement it, if possible. Finally, the last step in the Problem-Based Learning model is for students to examine the plan devised and implemented to determine its effectiveness and/or accuracy. This evaluation could be done formally or informally during or after the completed implementation of the plans and actions taken. (From What Are the Steps in the Problem-Based Learning Model?).
