Discuss the typical defendant educational level.

What will be an ideal response?

A majority of the defendants tend not to be well educated. Nearly half of the defendants prosecuted in federal courts did not graduate from high school. Moreover, 20% attended college, with only 5.4% earning a college degree. Not surprisingly, as discussed in Chapter 6, the overwhelming majority of defendants are indigent and are represented by publicly financed attorneys (Wolf Harlow, 2000; DeFrances & Litras, 2000).
