How does rising temperature elevate sea levels?

What will be an ideal response?

Rising temperature elevates sea level by two mechanisms: Water expands as it is heated, and heating also melts sea ice and glaciers. Together, thermal expansion and the addition of meltwater from glaciers cause sea level to rise. In the past century, the sea level has risen about 20 centimeters (8 inches).
