There is debate over whether the Implicit Association Test actually measures implicit prejudice. What is this debate about, and what might the IAT be measuring if not implicit prejudice?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: The IAT is criticized because it is not predicting behavior very well and consistently. There is some evidence that what the IAT actually measures is cultural associations or stereotypes. For example, pairing "old" with "wrinkled" doesn't necessarily make one prejudiced. It could just represent that one knows what the stereotype is of older people in our culture.
