How doe head-mounted displays (HMDs) work?
HMDs contain two small TV screens, one in front of each eye, along with a magnifying lens to generate the view. Sensing devices on top of the helmet determine the orientation and position of the user's head. The information is then transmitted to the computer, which generates two pictures so that each eye has a slightly different view, just as humans' eyes do.
