Explain how Type I and Type II errors are related to false alarms and misses
What will be an ideal response?
A Type I error is an error in which the researcher claims there is a difference when in reality there is no difference between the groups. Thus, this is similar to a false alarm—claiming that something is there when it is not. A Type II error is an error in which the researcher claims there is no difference between the groups being compared, when in reality there is. Thus, the researcher has missed a difference that is actually there.
