How does the specific gravity (SG) of a substance influence its ability to float?
What will be an ideal response?
The SG of water is 1.0, so any substance with an SG > 1.0 will sink. If the submerged object has an SG < 1.0, it will float. The lower the SG, the greater the amount of area that will able to float above the surface of the water.
