Traditionally, what are the duties of a young Indian man through the ideal life cycle? Can you imagine a similar life cycle for yourself?

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER:
Although religious duties may vary depending on class, the young man goes through a ritual rebirth in the ceremony of the sacred thread, which marks the transition to manhood. Afterward, the ideal life passes through four stages: (1) becoming a student and studying sacred texts; (2) marrying, having children, and acquiring material wealth; (3) after having grandchildren, giving up one's home, becoming a forest dweller, and meditating on the meaning of life; and (4) abandoning personal identity and becoming a wandering ascetic awaiting death. The virtuous life includes fulfilling duties to society and to one's self so that by the end of life one can achieve liberation, or moksha. Students may realize their connection to this cycle of life, especially if they can identify with rituals of maturity such as bar mitzvah in Judaism, and even the ritual of retirement and moving to a smaller home or to an apartment in warmer climates.
