These chemicals include prostaglandins (vasodilators and vasoconstrictors), which probably regulate GFR; nitric oxide, a potent vasodilator produced by the vascular endothelium; adenosine, which constricts renal vasculature; and endothelin, a vasoconstrictor that inhibits renin release.
