Examine the typical conditions that spawn hurricanes in the Atlantic. Describe the physical characteristics of a hurricane and examine why it can be so devastating to land

What will be an ideal response?

In the Atlantic basin, tropic depressions tend to intensify into tropical storms as they cross the Atlantic toward North and Central America. In general, cyclonic motion begins with slow-moving easterly waves of low pressure in the trade wind belt of the tropics. If the sea-surface temperature exceed 26°C, a tropical cyclone may form along the leeward side of the easterly waves.
