Please explain with example how you will use the binomial test when you measure client behavior as a dichotomous variable in the AB design.
What will be an ideal response?
this test is applied to the AB design, the standard of comparison is the rate of success during the baseline period, expressed as a decimal. (Example needs to be provided as given in the exhibit 7.3 in the text for using binomial test when the variable is measured dichotomously for the AB design). For example, you might measure whether a client receiving mental health services (a) was compliant with medication or (b) was not compliant with medication. You collect this information repeatedly during a baseline period and again during a treatment period. This is illustrated in Exhibit 7.3, in which a single client is recorded (with x) as demonstrating either positive or negative behavior each week over 12 weeks. During the baseline period of 5 weeks, there was positive behavior in week 3 but negative behavior in weeks 1, 2, 4, and 5. Then the pattern changed during the seven-week treatment period, when there were five positive weekly recordings and only two negative recordings. Thus, generally speaking the statistical question to be determined is whether the pattern of the number of positive baseline recordings in a total number of baseline recordings is significantly different from the treatment pattern of a certain number of positive recordings in a total number of recordings during the B phase.
