Explain the Malthusian and neo-Malthusian perspectives

Please provide the best answer for the statement

1. The Malthusian perspective argues that the population of a nation grows far faster than the
food supply. This is known as the Malthusian theorem. It argues that although advances in
agricultural technology can increase the food supply, such increases cannot keep pace with
the population explosion. Therefore, at some point in time, the population will exceed food
production.
2. At that point, the rapid rise in the population will put a severe strain on the food supply,
leading to outbreaks of famine, wars over food, and increases in disease.
3. The way to solve this problem is through “preventative checks,” which include moral
restraints such as abstinence and delayed marriage, and “positive checks,” which include
checks leading to premature death, such as war, disease, and starvation.
4. The neo-Malthusian perspective emphasizes birth control over moral restraint, and also
focuses on the environment and famine.
