What is a superbill? What kind of issues can errors in a superbill cause?
What will be an ideal response?
A superbill is a form used by providers to quickly list a patient's procedures and diagnosis for reimbursement. It is commonly adapted for a specific provider and is composed of patient demographic data, common CPT procedure codes, and common ICD diagnostic codes. Errors in the superbill may cause other errors in the billing process and delay reimbursement. For instance, a superbill with a diagnostic code for acute bronchitis and a liver profile exam could be rejected because the procedure does not fit the diagnosis.
