Supervised release into the community from incarceration, usually near the end of their sentence; work release—work skills necessary to successful reentry. Inmates may go to a prison or halfway house after their workday to serve their time; education release—inmate can attend college or vocational schools; halfway house—relocation to a residential dormitory environment, supervised release time in the community for education, work or reentry; day reporting center—offender reports to jail or prison in the morning for programs, treatment, supervision but the inmate returns home in the evening. They can keep their current jobs while serving their time.
