Answers will vary but all three terms describe limitations. An impairment refers to the loss of, or reduced function of, a body part or major organ. A disability is present when an impairment restricts a person's ability to perform certain tasks. A handicap is present when a person who is impaired or disabled experiences a problem with the environment, which may include the attitudes of others.
