Define body composition and its relationship to recommended body weight.
What will be an ideal response?
Responses will vary; the human body consists of fat and nonfat components. These two components represent your body composition. The fat component is usually called fat mass or percent body fat. The non-fat component is termed lean body mass. To determine your body composition, you should find out what percentage of total body weight is fat and what amount is lean tissue. Once your percentage of fat is known, your recommended body weight can be calculated from the recommended body fat percentages. Your recommended body weight implies the absence of any medical condition that would improve with weight loss and a fat distribution pattern that is not associated with higher risk for illness.
