Interpersonal conflict can be destructive in relationships when: (1 ) the resolution of the conflict ends with a winner and a loser; (2 ) individuals in the conflict act too aggressively, withdraw, withhold
information, or accuse each other of causing the problem; (3 ) the proportion of conflict to the
importance of goals increases dramatically; (4 ) it prevents us from doing our work or feeling good
about ourselves; and (5 ) it causes us to do things we don't want to do.
