One of the natural services provided free by the Earth is the purification of water. Exactly how does this work? Be sure to explain the role of the energy source and other force that drives this process.
What will be an ideal response?
This natural service is powered by the sun and the force of gravity. When water is evaporated, the dissolved chemicals (i.e., natural or human pollutants) are left behind either in a dissolved or solid state. The water vapor rises, eventually condenses, and forms rain droplets. Due to the action of gravity, it falls back to the earth as purified water. The action of gravity is also responsible for groundwater flow which acts as a natural water filtering process.
