What are some of the positive and negative aspects of the modern aid regime’s efforts to combat global poverty?

What will be an ideal response?

As a positive aspect altruistic aid purposes has reached an all time high. Many countries have worked hard to implement and reach the MDGs. Aid giving has increased significantly and several countries launched initiatives like the Millennium Challenge Account and the Commission for Africa. On the other hand geopolitical strategies emerged after 9/11 and the US in particular has again shifted its aid goals to political purposes. Most countries have failed to reach the promised .70% aid levels and not all of the MDGs will be met by their expiration in 2015.
